PWN Stockholm & RedMAD Chile: Gender equality in Sweden - where are we today?

05 November 2019 18:00 - 21:00 Scandic Sjöfartshotellet

Are Swedish workplaces really as equal as you think?

Sweden may have a global reputation as one of world's most gender equal societies, but when it comes to female representation in business, it might be not so black and white. Looking at the number of women in management positions, the biggest discrepancies are still in the traditionally "male" industries of manufacturing and technology.

On November 5th, PWN Stockholm & RedMAD Chile will co-host an international cross-disciplinary event where we will discuss gender equality in Sweden and reflect on its current status from different perspectives, capturing among others, the expats’ view on gender balance in Sweden.

The event is a collaboration between Professional Women's Network (PWN) Stockholm and RedMAD (Red de Mujeres en Alta Dirección) Chile, two non-profit organizations with the shared mission to develop, empower, connect and make visible professional women with a focus on balanced leadership in business and society.

In this interactive, moderator-led panel discussion, four representatives from the private and academic sectors will shine some light on the status quo of gender equality in Sweden today and the efforts that are made to advance gender balanced leadership locally and within the larger international context.

Our panel will consist of the following experts:

María Isabel Aranda
Founder and president of RedMAD Chile, with over 25 years of experience in the financial industry

Magnus Nermo
Professor and Head of Department of Sociology at Stockholm University with over 20 years of research experience within the field of gender and social class

Alejandra Pérez
Acting Director of RedMAD Chile and director of multiple organizations with more than 25 years of experience in the industry of mass consumption, retail and venture capital

Sara Jonasson Ginters
Diversity and Inclusion consultant at Via Consulting with 17 years of experience from the IT industry in Sweden and abroad

PWN Stockholm Co-Presidents, Anna Lindequist and Emily Carter, will act as moderators during the discussion.
